Gurugram is one of India’s most important garment export clusters. The export houses of Udyog Vihar, the factories around Sector 37 and the larger units in Manesar produce premium shirts, dresses, blouses and fashion garments for some of the world’s best-known brands. Their buyers set high standards for every component — including the buttons. This guide is for Gurugram merchandisers and sourcing managers looking for a dependable, local source of natural shell and mother-of-pearl buttons.
A manufacturer with a Gurugram office
Our sales office is at Rajiv Nagar, Sector 14, Gurugram, and our buttons are cut, drilled, polished and sorted in our own manufacturing unit in India. For Gurugram exporters, that means you can call, discuss a specification in person by appointment, see samples quickly and receive bulk lots without long transit times. When a buyer changes a trim at short notice, having the button manufacturer in the same city helps.
Where shell buttons fit in Gurugram’s export programmes
Not every garment needs a shell button — many basics are fine with polyester. Shell and MOP are specified on the programmes where finish matters most:
- Premium men’s and women’s shirts — white MOP, 18L 4-hole on the front, 14L–16L on collars and cuffs.
- Dresses and blouses — 14L–18L, often 2-hole, white or natural cream.
- Linen and resort collections — natural cream shell, 18L–20L.
- Sustainable capsules — where buyers ask for plastic-free trims.
- Fashion details — larger 24L–32L buttons and top-hole shell discs as visible design elements.
Meeting buyer standards
International buyers inspect for shade consistency, dimensions and attachment security. Natural shell varies by nature, so the supplier’s sorting decides whether a lot passes. Every order at our unit is sorted for shade and thickness after polishing. We send samples of the exact grade you will receive, so your QA team and the buyer approve what will actually arrive in bulk. For repeat programmes we keep the specification and lot reference to match future orders as closely as natural material allows.
Reading the trim sheet
Gurugram merchandisers see lines like “MOP 18L 4H 2.0 mm, polished, bright white”. MOP means real mother of pearl; 18L is about 11.4 mm; 4H is four holes; then thickness, finish and shade. Send us the exact line, or a photo of the approved trim card, and we will quote and sample against it. If the spec is in millimetres only, we will match or cut to size.
Machine attaching and production
Udyog Vihar and Manesar units run automatic button-sewing lines at high speed. Shell buttons with uneven thickness or off-centre holes cause needle breaks and stoppages. Our buttons are drilled to keep holes centred and smooth, and sorted for thickness; we still recommend running samples on your own machines before approving bulk. If your machines need a specific hole pitch, we can drill to match on bulk orders.
Consolidating trims across styles
An export house may run many styles for several buyers at once. Where buyers allow, consolidating collar and cuff buttons into one or two standard sizes simplifies stock and reduces cost. Ask us for a consolidated quote across your current styles.
Lead time and urgent orders
Production lead time is confirmed with every quote. Because we are in Gurugram, sample turnaround and local delivery are fast; for urgent programmes, tell us your in-house date at the start and we will confirm what is achievable before you commit.
Sampling for development seasons
Gurugram export houses develop several seasons a year for each buyer, and development samples often need trims within days. Keeping a small stock of approved shell buttons in common sizes — 14L, 16L and 18L in white MOP and natural cream — lets your sampling room finish protos without waiting. When the order is confirmed, we produce the bulk quantity against the same approved reference.
Supporting sustainable programmes
Many brands that source from Gurugram run sustainability programmes and ask factories to reduce plastic in trims. Natural shell is a biodegradable natural material and a straightforward replacement for polyester buttons on shirts and dresses. If your buyer needs material details for their documentation, ask us and we will share what we can about the material and process.
Women’s wear and dresses
A large share of Gurugram’s exports is women’s wear: dresses, blouses and tops in viscose, cotton and linen blends. Small 14L–16L 2-hole shell buttons are popular on these garments, often in long rows on the back or front. For lightweight fabrics, choose a thinner button so it does not pull the fabric, and approve shade on the actual print.
